The Eid "gift" to the public was reduced electricity price by NEPRA.

According to the details, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority decided to reduce the price of electricity for the consumers very slightly. According to media reports, Nepra has given an offer of 6 per unit price reduction before Eid.

According to the notification issued by Nepra, Direct Power Chasing Authority has requested a reduction of 85 per unit. 85 per unit was requested by the direct power-chasing operator, according to the notification, ordered by the court on 20th of last month.

It was considered in the hearing that the January FCA was charged to the customers with an increase of 48 paise per unit which was only for one month.
While FCA for February will be charged 48 paisa less per unit than January, it will be applicable only on April bills. According to Naper's notification, the electricity price reduction will be applicable to the consumers of discos. The reduction will be applied to domestic consumers using up to 300 units of electricity, agricultural consumers and electric vehicle charging stations instead of all consumers.
Nepra's decision will not apply to electric and lifeline consumers. It should be noted here that according to senior journalist Kamran Khan, the basic price per unit of electricity has increased by more than 50% in one year. Heavily reduced fuel adjustment charges are also charged in bills from electricity consumers.
